IG Brand Going Global with "Gas"-Powered Momentum
Understanding Market Concerns and Embracing Collaborative Opportunities
1. Internationalization and Localization Integration
This study encompassed Korea's industrial gas regulators, associations, and renowned enterprises. Notably, companies like KC INDUSTRIAL and AIRFIRST Group demonstrated rapid development through close ties with both multinational and local firms, effectively blending global expertise with localized management.
2. International Approach in Association Management
Korean industry associations, such as the Korea Industrial and Specialty Gas Association, consist of both international giants and key domestic players. Though membership is limited, their management philosophy draws heavily from European and Asian associations, focusing on technical standards, safety management, and training, with members adhering to strict self-discipline codes.
3. Appreciation for China's Progress and Prospects for Cooperation
During exchanges, Korean peers praised the rapid advancements of China's gas production and filling equipment sector. Shin Soon-il, Chairman of Korea's Gas Filling Station Association, expressed amazement at the progress, noting that Korean companies have now been surpassed—a change he couldn’t have anticipated a decade ago.
Representatives from Dong Yang Industrial Gases highlighted reliance on imported equipment, much of it from China, and ongoing manual operations in Korean filling stations. Discussions also revealed that Korea's air separation equipment market remains heavily import-dependent, with limited local manufacturing capabilities.
Additionally, a Korean entrepreneur with a history of Sino-Korean joint ventures expressed interest in partnering with Chinese firms to establish manufacturing facilities in China for gas cylinder cleaning and polishing equipment.
4. Expanding the Sino-Korean Gas Industry Chain
The 2024 IG Brand Global Journey provided valuable insights into Korea’s gas market. To further collaboration, the committee plans to partner with iGAS Magazine to host the "IG KOREA 2025" event in Seoul, creating opportunities for Chinese gas production and equipment enterprises to expand their market presence.
